PlayNow Review: How It Works in BC, Manitoba and Saskatchewan

PlayNow.com is the provincially authorized online gambling site in three provinces: British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. All three run on the same platform built by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), but each province has its own operator, age limit and product list. Here is what you need to know before you sign up.

You can only play the version for the province you are in. PlayNow checks your location, so a BC account won’t work on a trip to Alberta, and a Manitoba resident can’t use the Saskatchewan site.

PlayNow Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan had no legal online casino until November 3, 2022, when PlayNow launched at playnow.com/sk/. It came out of a 2021 agreement between the province and the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN): the site is operated by the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority, managed by SaskGaming, regulated by the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority, and runs on BCLC’s technology.

It offers casino games, live dealer tables, instants, poker and sports betting — but no lottery or bingo. Lottery tickets in Saskatchewan are sold by the Western Canada Lottery Corporation, including in its Lotto Spot app. You must be 19 or older. More about the province’s rules in our Saskatchewan gambling guide.

PlayNow Manitoba

Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries has run PlayNow at playnow.com/mb/ since 2013. Manitoba is the only one of the three provinces where the minimum age is 18. It has the widest product list after BC, including lottery (with the Western Max and Western 649 draws) and bingo. See our Manitoba guide.

PlayNow BC

BC’s PlayNow is the original: BCLC started selling lottery online in 2004 and added casino games in 2010. BC players also get BCLC’s Encore Rewards loyalty program, shared with land-based casinos in the province. Since April 13, 2026 gambling in BC is overseen by the new Independent Gambling Control Office, which replaced the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch. See our BC guide.

How to Sign Up and Verify Your Account

  1. Register with your name, date of birth and home address in the province. A PO Box alone is not accepted.
  2. Identity check. PlayNow checks your details electronically with a Canadian credit bureau (BC and Manitoba name Equifax). It is a soft check that confirms identity, age and residency and does not affect your credit score. In BC it usually takes less than five minutes.
  3. If the automatic check fails, support may ask for photo ID (driver’s licence or passport) and a utility bill; Manitoba may also ask for a selfie holding your ID.
  4. Before your first withdrawal you’ll be asked for your occupation — a federal anti-money-laundering rule.

Turn on multi-factor authentication in your account settings; PlayNow supports it.

Deposits

PlayNow’s help pages list these deposit methods in all three provinces:

The minimum deposit in BC is $5. Card deposits usually arrive within about 35 minutes. Be careful with credit cards: some issuers treat gambling deposits as cash advances, with a fee and interest from day one. Interac Online no longer exists — the service shut down across Canada on October 31, 2024 — so use Interac e-Transfer instead.

Withdrawals: How Long PlayNow Takes

This is where PlayNow is slower than many private casinos. Withdrawals are paid only by EFT to your own bank account — not to PayPal, a card or Interac e-Transfer. PlayNow takes up to 3 business days to process a request, then your bank usually needs about 1 more business day. Weekends and holidays don’t count.

Limits and Responsible Gambling Tools

PlayNow Apps

In BC you can download the PlayNow BC Sportsbook app for iPhone and the BCLC Lotto! app. We found no Android sportsbook app and no separate casino app for Manitoba or Saskatchewan — PlayNow recommends using the mobile website, which works in any phone browser. Poker uses a Windows download client. Only install apps from the official App Store listing published by BCLC; “PlayNow APK” files from other sites are not from BCLC.

Bonuses and Promo Codes

PlayNow is more modest with bonuses than private casinos. Its main published sports offer has been a “$250 Match Deposit”: new players enter the code WELCOME250, deposit $10–$250, bet through that amount and receive the match as bonus bets released in five parts. Casino offers change and we could not confirm them on PlayNow itself, so we don’t list figures — check the promotions page after you log in.

PlayNow FAQ

Is PlayNow legit?

Yes. PlayNow.com is the provincially authorized online gambling site in British Columbia (run by BCLC), Manitoba (run by Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries) and Saskatchewan (run by the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority and managed by SaskGaming). Profits go to the province or, in Saskatchewan, are shared under the province’s agreement with the FSIN.

How old do you have to be to use PlayNow?

19 in British Columbia and Saskatchewan, 18 in Manitoba. You must also live in the province and be physically located there when you play.

How long do PlayNow withdrawals take?

PlayNow pays out only by electronic funds transfer (EFT) to your own bank account. It takes up to 3 business days to process a withdrawal, plus about 1 business day for your bank to post it.

Can I withdraw from PlayNow with PayPal, a card or Interac e-Transfer?

No. PayPal, cards and Interac e-Transfer can be used to deposit, but withdrawals go to a bank account by EFT only.

Does PlayNow accept Interac?

It accepts Interac e-Transfer for deposits. The older Interac Online service shut down across Canada on October 31, 2024, so PlayNow no longer accepts it, even if you still see its logo somewhere.

Is there a PlayNow app?

In BC there is a PlayNow BC Sportsbook app for iPhone, plus the BCLC Lotto! app. For casino games, and for players in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, PlayNow recommends the mobile website. Poker uses a Windows download client.

Can I play PlayNow from another province?

No. Each version of the site is for players located in that province only, and your location is checked. A BC account does not work while you are in Alberta or Ontario.

Is there a PlayNow promo code?

For sports, PlayNow has run a “$250 Match Deposit” offer with the code WELCOME250 (bet your deposit, get bonus bets released in five parts). Offers change, so check PlayNow’s own promotions page. We do not publish casino bonus figures we could not confirm on PlayNow itself.
